Jaroslav Kotlár, known as Kotlár Security, will not fight Datel in their rematch at Clash 17 in Ústí nad Labem on Saturday, according to Slovak outlet MMA Fanatik. Kotlár had also trained in Thailand for the bout.
Kotlár cited health problems, posting a photo of an allegedly injured leg and saying he also has a stomach flu. "I'm not in good shape, I'm injured and sick. I have to get healthy," he wrote on Instagram (translated). He did not give a timeline for a return.
The organization confirmed he will not compete for health reasons and wished him a quick recovery. Datel has questioned the explanation and believes Kotlár pulled out out of fear. MMA Shorties published alleged messages in which Kotlár purportedly asked for the leg photo to be edited to look injured; that claim has not been verified.
Datel is expected to face a replacement opponent on the card, though none has been named.
