UFC CEO Dana White has signaled openness to a potential super fight between featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje, BJPenn.com reports, citing an interview with Main Event TV.
Volkanovski proposed the matchup ahead of UFC 333, saying he and Gaethje would both retire after the fight regardless of the result. "If he's got things he wants to do before he hangs it up, I'm sure we'll be very supportive," White said.
Volkanovski first defends his title against the unbeaten Movsar Evloev in the UFC 333 main event on Saturday. Gaethje, who won the lightweight title at UFC Freedom 250, is widely expected to face Arman Tsarukyan if he returns. No Volkanovski vs. Gaethje fight has been booked.
